The IAMU Social Media Workshop is just one week away. The workshop will be held in the Board room at the IAMU Office and Training Complex in Ankeny on Wednesday, June 10th. CLICK HERE for the complete agenda and registration information. IAMU Broadband Services Coordinator Curtis Dean, who will be leading the workshop, says the day-long event is designed to not only get utilities and cities started on using social media to communicate with citizens, but to help automate the process. "Many public agencies are reluctant to get started on social media because they don't know if they'll have time to keep the content fresh," says Dean. "We're going to provide some tools that can be used to allow cities to schedule their social media content ahead of time and make it easier to manage." A reminder that your annual drinking water quality report deadline for your consumers which summarizes your water source, educational information, contaminants detected, and your compliance with regulations is fast approaching. Community Water Systems must have their Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) to consumers and DNR by July 1st. Although your certification letter isn’t due until October 1st, we recommend you also submit it to DNR along with the copy of your CCR by July 1st. The American Water Works Association (AWWA) has released it's annual State of the Water Industry Report, which tracks water industry trends and reflects concerns of the water community. While water quality in North America remains consistently high, the report sounds an all-too-familiar warning: “We must address our water infrastructure and resource management challenges or else the reliability and resiliency of our water systems, the health of our environment, the prosperity of our economy, and the safety of our communities will be increasingly at risk.” CLICK HERE to read the entire report from the AWWA.
