Mark your calendars for the IAMU Wastewater Collection System Workshop sponsored by CIT Sewer Solutions.  This IAMU workshop will take place on Tuesday, October 10  at the IAMU Training and Office Complex.

IAMU offers 2 scholarship programs –a scholarship program for students pursuing a post-secondary program with a utility focus and a general scholarship program   for children or grandchildren of IAMU member employees.

Qualified Operator Training for Skid Steer

The course is designed to cover the general requirements for safe operation of Skid Steer with bucket and fork attachments, and the requirements of the SAE J1388 Standard. The course includes classroom instruction, final written exam, and hands-on evaluation of the operator.

Curriculum covers OSHA Regulations and SAE Standards, types and selection, safe operating practices, associated hazards, controls, capabilities, stability, inspections and maintenance, fueling, and operators’ manual requirements.

Skid Steer Loader Operators Practical Evaluation: An operator practical evaluation is included and will be conducted for use of the MEWP operator's performance to ensure that the operator has the knowledge, skills, and competency needed to operate the equipment safely.

Who Should Attend: Required for employees who operate Skid Steer. Only trained and authorized personnel shall be permitted to operate skid steer. Participants must be a minimum of 18 years of age.

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS
Safety Equipment Required: Attending participants are required to bring Hardhat, Safety Glasses, Work Gloves, Work Boots, Reflective Vest or Jacket and wear proper Work Clothing to participate in hands-on exercises and operator practical evaluation.  

Completion Requirements: Participants are required to be present and actively participate in all learning activities including written exam, and practical evaluation. Participants who successfully complete the program will receive a Skid Steer operator training qualification card. Employer specific training and authorization is required. Retraining and qualifying every 3 years or earlier due to unsafe act observed, a near miss or accident, and equipment or workplace changes. 

Learning Aids: Participants should come prepared with a note pad and pen. Guides and handouts will be provided at the start of the course.

Course Length: Approximately 8 hours including classroom, written test, followed by practical exercises and operator evaluations.

Who Should Attend?
This workshop is designed to give personnel new to the natural gas industry all of the basic fundamentals needed to aid in the day-to-day operations as well as the ability to perform certain "On-Call" tasks.

This workshop is also beneficial to natural gas operators who are looking to gain additional training, re-qualify on tasks offered, as well as providing a great opportunity to network with other operators from around the State addressing problems, concerns, techniques, etc.

Who Should Attend?
This training course is intended for individuals who have at least one or more years of experience in the natural gas industry and/or have already successfully completed Boot Camp for Dispatch and On-CalI Personnel.

This training course is intended to provide "next steps" in the operator qualification process by providing in depth classroom and hands-on training for OQ covered tasks.

All classroom and hands-on training will be conducted according to procedures found in the IAMU Operations & Maintenance Plan - Written Procedures Manual.

Note:
Written exams will not be completed during Boot Camp - Phase 2. Written exams must be completed online, prior to or immediately after completion of this training course. Performance Evaluations will be conducted for all tasks covered during the training course.

This conference is organized by the The Iowa Occupational Safety and Health Advisory Council and will be held October 24-25, 2023 at the Prairie Meadows Casino Racetrack and Hotel in Altoona, Iowa.
We highly recommend this conference to our members and safety professionals.
The conference is two days of conversation on how best to protect Iowa workers. Participants can network with colleagues, make new contacts, further their safety education and continue growing as an OESH professional.
