Messages with the right images tend to get noticed and remembered more than just words. Notice that right was italicized in that last sentence; that’s because not just any image will do. Don’t include an image for image-sake. Think cheesy clipart will be compelling? Not so much.
Make sure the images that you select are:
- Relevant and reinforce your message – That way, when your customers mentally recall the images, they will remember the messages, too.
- Personal – Take, create, or select images that people will recognize. Avoid stock images if you can. If your customers recognize the people or places in the photos or graphics, they may be more likely to take time to take in the accompanying messages too.
- Appropriate – Sometimes, it makes sense to include a photo. Other times, an infographic might be a better option. Figure out what would work best. If you need help, feel free to reach out to IAMU’s contracted public relations specialist Jen Cronin at [email protected].
