Sergeant Bluff had utility crews responding to their call for help late Sunday and early Monday morning to begin cleanup and restoration. The utilities from Hawarden, Mapleton, Spencer, Manilla, and Woodbine responded with personnel and equipment to help restore power. Crews had power restored to all areas on Tuesday after another storm passed through the area and caused more damage on Monday night.
John Robinson of Sergeant Bluff Utilities was extremely pleased with the help from everyone.” Our utility had materials and many distributors in the area, but we needed trucks and people to help. This will take a few weeks to clean up, but at least the power is back on”. John also mentioned that there will be much to do in order to get the system back into shape. The utility is very grateful for all of the help, especially on a holiday weekend.
Please take time out, if you have not already, to complete your mutual aid questionnaires and submit them to IAMU. During these events, it is very important for coordinators and our staff to have current information about your utility. As this information changes at the utility due to equipment purchases, retirements or contact information changes, please inform IAMU and we will make the changes to our list.
