You may have been hearing for a while that there will be a huge wave of retirements in the utility sector within the next few years. For some of us, the train has arrived at the station. It’s here, now what do we do? Is it an opportunity to shift younger, experienced employees, into supervisory or management positions? Is it the time to cross train current employees to perform other tasks to fill the gaps left by retirements? Should I have hired someone 2 years ago? Congress returned for a few weeks after a month-long August recess, but has now departed for the November elections. Congress will return for a lame duck session in mid-November at which time they will work to pass legislation that continues funding of the federal government. There is also a possibility that they may try to move legislation to extend expiring tax credits. The outcome of the November elections is anticipated to be an important factor in determining congressional action during the lame duck session. While there has not been much productivity in terms of congressional efforts to try and move legislation, APGA continues to be very active on the regulatory front. |
