Representative Dawn Pettengill, House District 75, hosted a Public Works Summit on Thursday, August 6, 2015 in Van Horne Iowa. The purpose of the Summit was to discuss the costs of water and wastewater infrastructure and compliance with federal and state environmental law and regulation.
The Summit was well attended by DNR staff including speakers Director Chuck Gipp, Adam Schneiders, Water Quality Coordinator and Jon Tack, Chief, Water Quality Bureau. Julie Smith from IAMU and Dustin Miller, General Counsel for the League of Cities discussed the services that the League and IAMU provide to members. Rep. Pettengill invited public works personnel, city council members and mayors from the cities in her district. Senator Tim Kapucian also participated in the Summit. Representatives from the Eastern Iowa Council of Governments, USDA and the state’s SRF revolving loan fund were also present to assist cities with funding questions. Thanks to Representative Pettengill for continuing to advocate for cities, in particular the cities in her district.
