Mary Ann Kinkade was awarded on May 13, 2015 the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), Iowa’s Hawkeye Chapter‘s Safety Professional of the Year award at the chapters Professional Development Conference in Johnston, Iowa.
Kinkade has been working within a safety capacity for the past 36 years. In her role as Job Training & Safety Coordinator at IAMU, she works with, teaches, and coordinates safety training for 429 different utilities, cities, counties, government agencies, and businesses around the state of Iowa. Mary Ann and her staff logged more than 120,000 mile last year, crisscrossing the state delivering quality safety education.
Mary Ann has assisted and helped many utilities and cities through incidents, death investigations, and works with OSHA and the city to negotiate settlements. She has tirelessly worked to improve her members’ safety program and cultures. Over the past several decades Mary Ann has mentored many new safety people within the field through IAMU and ASSE; inspiring the new generations of safety professionals. Mary Ann has helped many of our IAMU members start up and establish safety committees, while also serves on several area utilities and city safety committees.
