October 4th - 10th is Public Natural Gas Week

Public Natural Gas Week (PNGW) is a nationwide observance that offers the perfect opportunity for you to showcase your public natural gas system and generate enthusiasm about the benefits of public natural gas.  This year, PNGW will be celebrated October 4 -10, 2015.

American Public Gas Association (APGA) and IAMU encourages members to celebrate this week by promoting their system through events, social media posts, material distribution, communication, press release, and other publicity methods.

APGA has created downloadable sample materials that are available for their member to utilize in their PNGW promotion on the APGA website at www.apga.org/pngw.

We hope that all member utilities join us in this nationwide observance to honor the work and importance of locally-owned public natural gas systems. The American Public Gas Association is here to help you plan and promote your system’s PNGW celebrations.

Suggestions

• Celebrate PNGW with a customer appreciation day. Provide refreshments and a presentation by an employee of your system who can explain to attendees the importance of having a public natural gas system in their community and why natural gas is a responsible and affordable choice. 
• Hold an open house for school groups.  Provide children with take home materials.  Some materials can be downloaded for free from the APGA website. These materials are almost always looked at by their parents who are your customers.  
• Explore opportunities to speak to local civic organizations about energy efficiency with natural gas appliances and the benefits of public gas. Go to www.apga.org/videos to share APGA’s video on the benefits of public gas systems.
