In less than six months, entities will face OSHA fines that are nearly twice as much as they have been for 25 years. The increase comes as a result of a congressional budget deal signed into law in November. While OSHA has not yet put the hike into effect, the law requires the Agency to do so before August 1, 2016.
Willful and repeat violations fines are expected to increase from $70,000 to $127,000, and serious violations fines are expected to increase from $7,000 to $12,700. This is an increase of about 80 percent.
