A lot has changed during this time, and Waverly Light and Power has been on the forefront of that change every step of the way, giving the citizens of Waverly accessible, affordable and responsible energy options. Investments in wind, hydro and solar energy generation reflect their commitment to renewable, alternative energy sources.

A lot has changed during this time, and Waverly Light and Power has been on the forefront of that change every step of the way, giving the citizens of Waverly accessible, affordable and responsible energy options. Investments in wind, hydro and solar energy generation reflect their commitment to renewable, alternative energy sources.
In addition to being a leading energy services provider, Waverly Light and Power is adding new services to better meet the needs of the community at large. Services like the recently approved measure by their Board of Trustees to begin the development of a high-speed fiber-optic network broadband telecommunications system for Waverly. This system will pave the way for one of the fastest high-speed internet systems available in the country, as well as new cable and phone services for both residents and businesses.
“With all these new services, the board looked at our name and realized we really are much more than just ‘Light and Power’ … so after a lengthy discussion, we agreed to change our name to ‘Waverly Utilities’ to better reflect all we have to offer,” stated Ael Suhr, Chairman of the Board for Waverly Utilities.
“Our new name and logo better represents the significant growth our municipal utility has experienced over the last 100+ years, and positions us for additional growth as well. We’re always looking for new ways to better meet the needs of our residents and businesses. Today, it’s high-speed internet, cable and phone utilities. Whatever utility need that is 10, 15 or 20 years down the road, we’ll be ready to embrace that as well.”
