Waverly Utilities General Manager Darrel Wenzel has been recognized by his industry peers for his service to the cause of municipal broadband.
The Wonder Woman USB flash drive symbolizes the Order of the Amazonian. It also can store 8 GB of data. At the conclusion of the IAMU Municipal Broadband Conference on March 19th, Wenzel was awarded the "Order of the Amazonian" by his fellow municipal broadband employees. "The honor is symbolized by the Wonder Woman USB flash drive (see photo at left)," says Curtis Dean, IAMU Broadband Services Coordinator who announced the award to cheers from Wenzel's collegues. "We know that Darrel had hoped to one day receive this honor. It's just a shame that he was unable to be present when the award was announced."
During Wenzel's career, he was instrumental in the successful operation of the broadband utilities at Independence and Harlan. At his current position in Waverly he is helping lead Waverly Utilities to the launch of a fiber-to-the-home project.
The Wonder Woman flash drive will be officially presented to Wenzel at a future IAMU event.
