Spring time again brings action to the IAMU Training Field. Electric, Gas, and Water programs are all preparing for their spring workshops. The Electric Safety Committee gathered for a workday last Friday to prepare for their May Overhead Distribution Workshop.
We had a very good turnout for our workday. The weather was great and everyone was ready to help. Ames Municipal Utilities was able to donate the use of one of their trucks and manpower to mount the switch parts onto the 65 ft structure. I can’t say enough about how great it is to have these guys on our committee. They bring valuable experience to the table at times like these and make projects like this go smoothly. There is still work to be done, but it should be ready for training programs at the upcoming workshop in May. This mock substation will serve as just one more training tool on our field when completed.
I would like to thank the utilities of Algona, Ames, Aurelia, Denison, Indianola, Montezuma, Mount Pleasant, Muscatine, and Pella for allowing their employees to help provide training for IAMU and also Energy Solutions Inc. and McCaskey Co. for being valuable members of the committee and experts in their field during workshops. I hope to see some of you May 13-15 at our facility in Ankeny for the Overhead Workshop.
